DankBliss

Also known as Reagan, Dank Bliss is a New Orleans-based singer-songwriter, guitarist, performer, and producer. In 1984, he and Scott Free founded and led the Texas hardcore band Lethal Injection, with Bob Blast (drums) and Raidy Killowatt (bass). In 1992 Reagan founded Noisebleed. Both bands brought psychedelic Hardcore/Blues and New Orleans Party Culture to the Post-Punk DIY generation.

 

The Aftermath was Lethal Injection's Underground Punk House and performance "squat" from 1983-1987 in Houston. Moonbeans Alternative Coffeehaus (1993-1994) was Houston's first underground coffeehouse performance space where Noisebleed, featuring Kevin Shamoan and Bob Bitter of VEX, teamed up with Reagan to host afterhours parties and a speakeasy, putting on underground shows that would rival the alternative grunge scene prevailing at the time.

The cries for civil disobedience and activism came after harassment by other club owners. Fearing a drop in paying customers, those club owners would send in the likes of "ascap" & ''firemarshalls" who all had their hands out wanting bribes. It forced an eventual shutdown of the club and Reagan's first move back to New Orleans early in 1995.

 

Reagan returned to New Orleans in 2013 and reunited with Lethal Injection's drummer, Bob Blast. They are preparing for a 30th anniversary tour. In 2015, by then also known as Dank Bliss, Reagan joined the New Orleans Musicians Union Local 174-496 – amongst Deacon John, George Porter Jr., Dr. John and many other music legends in the business –as Cultural Ambassadors to New Orleans Music.

 

Currently, Dank Bliss hosts a mobile DJ and pop-up cafe: Coffeeshop Amsterdam,

providing coffee and craft services, equipment rentals, and tour bus/car service to movies, festivals, and party scenes. He also released a new recording in 2016 "Lethal Injection: Latest Hits.", and is available for bookings in the upcoming season.
